Career

Deverakonda made his debut with the film ‘Nuvvila’ in the year 2011. This film was directed by Ravi Babu. In 2016, Vijay got his first lead role in the film Pelli Choopulu. It was a romantic coming-of-age film directed by Tharun Bhascker. The film was a huge success and won also the Best Feature Film in Telugu and the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu.

After that, he was starred in the film ‘Arjun Reddy’. This film was huge breakthrough for him. In this, he portrayed a self-destructive, short-tempered, and alcoholic surgeon character. The film won him awards like the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. In 2019, his amazing performance in Arjun Reddy was ranked “100 Greatest Performances of the Decade”. Seeing the success, a Bollywood remake of the film was also made titled ‘Kabir Singh’ starring Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor, which became a huge blockbuster.

In 2019, he was starred in other superhit film “Dear Comrade”, alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Vijay got featured in many other Films like World Famous Lover, Geetha Govindam, Taxiiwala, etc.

In April 2021, he started filming a Hindi–Telugu bilingual film Liger, opposite Ananya Pandey. The film is being directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar. Recently, he also appeared in the show ‘Koffee with Karan‘ with Ananya Pandey.
