Early life, family, and education of Tanya Ghavri

Tanya Ghavri was born in 1987. Her birthplace is Mumbai, Maharastra, India. She is also the eldest daughter of Karsan Ghavri, former cricketer, who played during the days of Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar. Moreover, she has an younger sister named Panchami Ghavri. Panchami also works as a casting director in Bollywood. 

She also went to Parsons School of Design, one of the most prominent design schools in New York. After completing a year of Fashion Studies, Tanya came back to India and took up an apparel manufacturing and textile course in Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women’s University, Mumbai.

Career

Tanya Ghavri was very interested in fashion industry since her childhood. She used to bunk her college to work at different fashion shoots.

After her course, Tanya started her career as an intern in the popular Fashion magazine, Vogue. From there, she worked under Pernia Qureshi, who is another top-notch Bollywood Stylist. She worked with her in two films, Aisha (2010) and Thank You (2011). It was during Aisha that she came close to Sonam Kapoor and her sister Rhea Kapoor. Sonam became quite impressed with Tanya’s sartorial selections for the fashion-centric movie, Aisha. Afterwards, Sonam asked her to style her personally for various events and appearances. Then, she gradually got many other offers.

Tanya also styled celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Ileana D’Cruz, Sridevi, Richa Chadda. She also worked for young actors like Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Arjun Kapoor.

Later, she also teamed up with producer Ashi Dua to launch her first edition of Dhoom Dhaam Wedding Trunk Show. This show was a one-day exhibition of hand-picked designer bridal couture, held on 3 September 2016 at St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai.
