Career of Shamita Shetty

Shetty made her film debut in the 2000 film Mohabbatein, directed by Aditya Chopra for Yash Raj Films. She won the 2001 IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female for her portrayal of Ishika.

She went on to give Bollywood hit dance moves like Sharara Sharara in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002), Chori Pe Chori in Saathiya (2002), and Mind Blowing Mahiya in Cash (2007).

Her performance in the film Zeher was praised (2005). In the film Fareb, she collaborated alongside her sister Shilpa Shetty. She also appeared in multi-star films such as Bewafaa (2005) and Cash (2007). In 2009, she was a contestant on Bigg Boss 3. Shetty decided to pursue her career for home design with her acting profession.

She started her own interior design firm, Golden Leaf Interiors, after completing an interior design course in London and an internship with an architect’s office. For creating Chandigarh Iosis Spa, she won the Asia Spa Awards’ Best Interior Design Award.

She appeared on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2017. She later starred in Yo Ke Hua Bro, a comedy web series created by Voot. Shetty competed in Colors TV’s reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in 2019. She became the third runner-up. She played Meera in the film The Tenant in 2020.

After that, Shetty played Kavita Tharoor in the ZEE5 thriller Black Widows. Her film The Tenant was featured at the Los Angeles Indian Film Festival in 2021. At the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2021, it got the Best Film Award.

In 2017, Shetty joined up with a non-profit organisation committed to the protection of stray and abandoned cats. She also walked the ramp for Roopa Vohra at the She Matters fashion show for a social purpose. She teamed up with Help Age India in 2018.

For a year, Shetty and her sister Shilpa Shetty have supported Pantene. She has worked with corporations and brands such as Aldo, Audi, and the IIFJAS Jewellery Exhibition.
