Ratna was born on 18 March 1957 in Mumbai, India. She is 65 years old (as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Pisces. Pathak completed her primary schooling at J. B. Vachha High School, Dadar. Then, she was admitted to the National School of Drama, Delhi, to pursue higher education.

Her father’s name is Baldev Pathak. Her mother’s name is Dina Pathak. She is an actress. Ratna has a sister, Supriya Pathak, who is also an actress. Ratna tied the knot with Naseeruddin Shah in 1982. They have two sons Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah. Her husband also has a daughter, Heeba Shah, from his first marriage

Career

Ratna started her career by acting in theatre. I television industry she rose to fame when she appeared in the hit TV serial “Idhar Udhar” in the 1983. That role gained her a lot of popularity.

She gained recognition after her portrayal of Maya Sarabhai in the sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004–2006). Her other prominent roles include Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), action comedy film Golmaal 3 (2010), family drama film Kapoor & Sons (2016), and the black-comedy film Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017). She also made an appearance in the film Ek Mai Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and Khoobsurat (2014).

Ratna has also acted in several Russian plays. She has also co-founded “Motley Theatre Group”. Ratna appeared in the action comedy Golmaal 3 opposite Mithun Chakraborty. She was also a part of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan Selection Committee for 2012 Awards.

Ratna has worked in many Bollywood movies. Recently, her new movie is released in 2022, “Jayeshbhai Jordaar”. She played the role of Jashoda Patel, Jayesh’s mother. She also got featured in the movie ‘Attack’ which released on 1 April 2022. In this, she played the role of Shanti Shergill.

Apart from working in Hindi films, Ratna has also shown her talent in the English entertainment industry. In 1983, she did her first English film, Heat and Dust. In this, she played the role of Ritu Verma. After that, in 1988, she portrayed the role of Pratima Ghote in the film, The Perfect Murder. Subsequently, in 2011, she appeared in the movie, The Coffin Maker. In this, she portrayed the role of Isabella.
