Ram Setu is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language film. It is an action-adventure drama film directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film features Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrat Bharucha, and Satyadev. It is produced under Cape of Good Films, Abundantia Entertainment, Amazon Prime Video and Lyca Productions. The story is about an archaeologist investigating the nature of Ram Setu.

Story of Ram Setu

The plot involves an archaeologist, who has set out to check out whether the Ram Setu bridge is a myth or a reality. He must race against time to prove the true existence of the legendary Ram Setu before evil forces destroy the pillar of India’s heritage. Ram Setu is a bridge built by the god Rama’s army of Vanara to reach Lanka to rescue his wife Sita.

The film was announced in November 2020, with the principal photography commencing in Mumbai on 30 March 2021. The film’s shoot suffered delay because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The shooting was resumed by October 2021. Its shooting took place in Ooty, Daman and Diu and Mumbai. The film is scheduled for a release on 24 October 2022 in theatres coinciding with Diwali. Also, after the release, it would be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Akshay Kumar

Controversy

The film, which is very near the release date, has courted controversy. It has been charged with “falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue” by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. The BJP leader is seeking a settlement from the makers of the film. Along with Akshay’s ‘Ram Setu’, the politician is also suing Karma Media’s film for their movie ‘Setu’, which is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and produced by Shailesh R Singh.
