Pooja Dhingra was born on Tuesday, 5 August 1986. Her birthplace is Mumbai, Maharastra, India. Her father’s name is Jaikishan Dhingra, who is also a chef. Moreover, her mother’s name is Seemaa Dhingra, who is a Therapist and a Healer. She also have a brother named Vaarun Dhingra, who is a Restaurateur.

Pooja also did her schooling in Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai. Then, she studied commerce in Jai Hind College, Mumbai. Afterwards, she told her parents that she wanted to study hospitality. Pooja’s parents supported her and she went for further studies in Switzerland in 2004. Also, Pooja’s brother was in the same college as her. After completing her graduation, Dhingra went to Le Cordon Bleu school in Paris in 2008 where she learned how to bake French pastries.

After completing her commerce studies, Pooja enrolled in a law college. However, she attended the classes for two weeks there and felt really bored seeing the books. Soon, Pooja realised that her interest was in hospitality and not in law.

Career

When she was a child, she learnt baking from her Bua (aunt). Pooja’s aunt used to keep her busy with baking on Sundays as she was someone who would get bored very easily. The first thing she baked was brownies. Pooja Dhingra was extremely excited to see the brownies coming out of the oven. Then, she learnt that even with simple ingredients, something creative can be made. These incidents made her a big fan of chocolate.
In Le Cordon Bleu school in Paris she learned how to bake French pastries and tasted macarons for the first time at a party thrown by her friend. Pooja liked the flavour of macarons and wanted to bring the same taste to India as well. In 2010, Pooja returned to India and started working on the recipes of the macaron. Afterwards, she opened her first macaron restaurant in Mumbai. Pooja named the restaurant Le 15 Patisserie. Also, this name has been kept because she was living in the 15th Arrondissement in Paris.

At first, Pooja started the restaurant with just two chefs and now she has a staff of more than 100 chefs. Moreover, the cafe now has three outlets in Good Earth, Lower Parel; Palladium Mall. Dhingra also started making podcasts with the name ‘NoSugarCoat with Pooja’.
