Pawandeep was born in a small village in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand. The family has a musical background. His father, Suresh Rajan, is a folk singer of the Kumaoni language. His grandmother Kabutari Devi was also a folk singer.

He was trained by his father. Later his paternal uncle introduced him to the musical field. At the age of two and a half years, Pawandeep started playing Tabla with his father in various functions in Uttarakhand. In Chandigarh, he was a lead vocalist in a band called ‘RAIT.’ Later, he participated in the reality show The Voice and won it.

He has since performed and composed songs for movies from various music industries, including Marathi, Bengali and Punjabi. He is composing and singing his original songs independently, in both Hindi and Kumaoni language. In 2020, he participated in the Indian singing reality show Indian Idol 12. He won The Voice in 2015. He won the show in the finale held on 15 August 2021.He began doing concerts and shows since his childhood.

Currently, he is the brand ambassador for culture, tourism, and sports in Uttarakhand. Additionally, he was named Electoral icon for the Uttarakhand state elections in 2022.
