His dad’s store was situated within a shared warehouse, coexisting with a prominent manufacturer specialising in aftermarket parts for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and sport bikes. These early experiences significantly shaped the trajectory of his life.

Jesse got introduced to the world of two-wheeled machines at the age of 7, during this time only he received his first mini-bike. This moment ignited a deep-seated passion for motorcycles. In fact, he took his initial steps in crafting a motorcycle exhaust system during his freshman year of high school, all within the confines of his mother’s garage. However, his meticulous nature led him to discard the prototype before it could be seen by anyone.

Jesse wanted to pursue football as his career but due to the injury he had to change his career path. A profession that would allow him to establish himself anew. He dedicated himself to rigorous training to become a bodyguard, subsequently spending several years safeguarding renowned bands such as Soundgarden, Danzig, and Slayer, traveling the globe with them.

Yet another career-threatening injury occurred while he was working at a concert, prompting him to once again reassess his professional journey. It was during this period that he made a life-altering decision to turn his utmost passion into a career: crafting custom motorcycles. Under the tutelage of the legendary custom hot rodder Boyd Coddington, Jesse immersed himself in the art of handcrafting bikes.

In the early 1990s, he founded the company West Coast Choppers. It swiftly gained fame as a celebrity motorcycle manufacturing facility, and Jesse’s reputation rose alongside it. Initially, he started the shop in a small, dusty corner of a friend’s garage, without loans, partners, or a clear vision of the future. Through gradual progress, painstaking effort, and significant personal sacrifice, Jesse constructed his future empire, continuing to build his bikes meticulously, from the ground up, by hand. West Coast Choppers now boasts a workforce of over 50 individuals, producing bikes ranging from $50,000 to $150,000, catering to clients like Shaquille O’Neal and Kid Rock.

In 2002, he made his television debut through the show named ‘Monster Garage’ on The Discovery Channel. Serving as the show’s host and team leader, Jesse’s West Coast Choppers became an integral part of the program.

Love Life

James married Karla James in 1991, and the couple had two children together, a son and a daughter named Stella James. However, they divorced in 2002.

Following his divorce from Karla, Jesse married a stripper and adult actress, Janine Lindemulder, with whom he has a daughter named Sunny James. Unfortunately, they separated in 2004.
