Early life, family, and education of Ileana D’Cruz

Ileana was born on 1 November 1987. Her birthplace is Mahim, Mumbai, India. Her nickname is Illu. Ileana belongs to a Goan Catholic Christian family. Moreover, her father’s name is Ronaldo D’Cruz who is a mechanical draftsman. Her mother Samira D’Cruz is a designer. Ileana has two sisters; one is elder named Farrah D’Cruz, and the other is younger named Eileen D’Cruz. Also, he has a brother named Rhys D’Cruz. Ileana also did her schooling at St.Xaviers Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, Goa. Afterwards, she did her graduation from the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. When Ileana was ten years old, her family shifted from Mahim, Mumbai to Parra, Goa and on the suggestion of her mother’s then-manager, she joined the modelling.

Relationship

Ileana D’Cruz was dating an Australian photographer Andrew Kneebone for several years. However, they broke up in August 2019.

It is rumoured that Sebastian Laurent Michel and Ileana are dating now. Sebastian is a model residing in London, UK, and brother of actress Katrina Kaif.

Career

The Indian producer Rakesh Roshan first saw Ileana in an advertisement. He then helped to take her first major role. Illeana also achieved success in a very short duration of time because of her hard work. Ileana was also the first Indian actress who was given the remuneration of one crore in South Indian film industry which was the highest remuneration at that time given to a female lead. When Ileana was 16 years old, she started doing modelling. Her first portfolio which was created by Marc Robinson which was a disaster. Afterwards, she walked the ramps for several popular fashion designers and later did several TV commercial advertisements like Fair & Lovely, Emami Talc, Electrolux, etc.

In 2005, she joined the Aruna Bikshu Acting School in Hyderabad, Telangana. In 2006, Ileana made her film debut by playing the lead role of Bhanumati in the Telugu film Devadasu. Devadasu was commercially successful and grossed over 140 million. She received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. Ileana’s next Telugu film was Pokiri in which she played the lead role of Shruti. This film was also successful one for her.

In 2012, Ileana made her Bollywood debut with the director Anurag Basu’s film Barfi! Ileana also received various awards for her performance in Barfi! like ETC Bollywood Business Award for Most Profitable Debut (Female), Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female, Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut, Star Guild Award for Best Female Debut, and Times of India Film Awards for Best Female Debut and Best Supporting Actress. In 2017, Ileana also appeared in Atif Aslam’s music video Pehli Dafa. She also appeared in Rustom (2016). In 2019, she appeared in Pagalpanti.

Controversies

• Once she gave bold comment on sex that “Sex is a major relaxation to my body. It keeps me young, and I don’t mind to talk about that in public” which created controversy.
• In 2012, the film producer Mohan Natarajan filed a complaint against Ileana for not returning the 40 lakhs (INR) advance that she took from him.
