Episodes

In the first episode, Benefit Show, Ranga (played by Venkatesh Maha), the president of a star actor’s fan association, organises a benefit show for his favourite star’s movie. Sreenu (played by Suhas), a local leader, purchases two hundred tickets for his followers to show his might. However, when the access code for the show gets delayed, chaos ensues, putting Ranga’s reputation and self-respect on the line. The story showcases the fan frenzy madness during big movie releases and how it affects many people. Venkatesh Maha and Suhas breathe life into these characters and do an impressive job. Be mindful of the slang language in this episode.

The second episode, Food Festival, tells the story of Pooja Reddy (played by Madonna Sebastian), a non-vegetarian, who is forced to turn vegetarian when she marries Rajeev (played by Tharun Bhascker) and lives in a community with a certain ideology. Her struggle begins again when her doctor advises her to include eggs in her diet to overcome her weakness. The story brings to life how simple choices like what you can or cannot eat can impact the quality of life. Madonna Sebastian and Tharun Bhascker do a fine job portraying the roles of wife and husband.

In the third episode, An Afternoon Nap, Radha (played by Bindu Madhavi) lives a mundane life with her husband (played by Ravindra Vijay) in a dilapidated house which has an irritating landlord. Radha’s helplessness and severe migraine episodes make her life miserable. Her struggle to find some peace becomes a bit overstretched, and how her anger gets the better of her and what she does for revenge is a bit out of place. Bindu Madhavi and Ravindra Vijay portray their characters well.

The final episode, Helmet Head, features Giridhar (played by Phani Acharya), who finds himself unlucky, and his baldness and lack of work become a source of anger and unhappiness. As he finds a solution, the source of his problem disturbs his peace, and he decides to revolt. Phani Acharya got into the character well and acted without inhibitions.

Final Words

Overall, Anger Tales Season 1 succeeds in making the viewer empathize with the characters’ struggles. However, because of the heavy and, at times, somber nature of the content, a bit of color and humor could have enhanced the overall experience and made it a more engaging watch. In addition, the episodes could have been shorter, and the last two could have concluded better.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a thought-provoking and relatable web series, Anger Tales Season 1 is worth a watch. However, be prepared for a bitter slice of life.
