The daughter of Gillian and Phillip Chung, Chung was born in Winchester, Hampshire, England. Her mother is of English ancestry, while her father is three-quarters Chinese. From July 2007 until July 2011, she was in a four-year relationship with Arctic Monkeys vocalist Alex Turner. They shared a home in London before moving on to New York, where Chung bought an East Village flat. Chung said that Turner remained her “best friend” in a 2013 interview. In 2014, the ex-couple was spotted together on several occasions.
